An energy pyramid and its shape is used to show how energy is transferred to the different levels of organisms in an ecosystem. It is often explained by the 10% rule. The 10% rule is how much energy is transferred. The organism that eats the organism would only get 10% of the organisms energy. For example, if an eagle eats a snake, the snake would only get 10% of the energy the snake originally had.
